Criminal Investigations

This bureau is housed in the PCSO Sheriff’s Operations Center, located at 1891 Jim Keene Blvd in Winter Haven. BCI is responsible for investigating major/significant crimes within Polk County and is divided into four specialized investigative sections, which focus on specific categories as they relate to criminal investigations. The four sections within BCI are: Major Crimes (homicide, robbery, fugitive apprehension, detention investigations), Special Victims (missing persons, child protection referral, victim/witness advocates, special victims response), Crime Scene, and Identification. This bureau is comprised of mostly undercover detectives. Our Narcotics detectives are responsible for investigating, apprehending, and assisting in the successful prosecution of those who engage in illicit activities as well as the use, delivery, and manufacturing of illegal drugs. Our Strategic Investigations & Analysis Section members are involved in investigating Internet-based crimes, organized retail theft crime, and identity theft-related crimes, along with our Intelligence gathering units.
