Rural Road Sign Program

We're encouraging rural residents through this FREE program to have a well-marked road sign installed by PCSO on their property so that emergency responders can easily and quickly find their homes in case of an emergency. The FREE reflective signs will be installed by PCSO volunteers or agency members on residential properties in a location visible from the roadway.

Please contact Crime Prevention to obtain a registration form. Once we receive your completed form and confirm that you meet the eligibility requirements, your address will be added to a list and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office will create the sign marker and reach out to set up an installation date.

Eligibility requirements:

  • The property is in a rural location of Polk County
  • The property is residential
  • The property does not already have a well-marked address sign
  • The property would benefit from a reflective address sign
  • The property owner agrees with the installation of a sign
  • There is a suitable location for the sign to be installed

The reflective markers are made of high quality, rigid composite/plastic material and are dark green in color. The marker will be driven into the ground where it is easily visible from the road’s edge—it will have reflective numbers attached to both sides to easily identify the street address. We have 4” white reflective numbers that will be placed on the sign vertically to indicate the numeric address. They will be installed using a sign post driver/installer.
